The big deal? Saturn opposite Uranus
November 4, 2008: Election day in the U.S. sees an exact opposition of Saturn and Uranus at 18 58' Virgo-Pisces (the solar eclipse degree of September 2007). This is the first opposition of the cycle that started with their conjunction in 1988 (at 29° Sagittarius). These two planets were last in opposition during 1965-66, with Saturn in mid Pisces and Uranus in mid Virgo. Mountain Astrologer.
Yes indeed the USA Election does coincide with Saturn opposite Uranus. This looks to be a really serious issue.
The first three weeks of November 2008 are extremely astrologically dynamic. The month starts with the Sun and Mars in Scorpio coupled with the Moon ,Venus and Pluto in Sagittarius.
Saturday November 1st 2008
Strong times a brewin'.
The Moon is conjunct Venus at 16 degrees Sagittarius at 07:36 GMT.
The Moon forms a tight mutable T-square with Saturn and Uranus around 12:30 GMT.
The Daze is now back 'live'.
Sunday November 2nd 2008
John McCain and Barack Obama face a busy weekend as the race for the White House enters its final days. Saturn is exactly opposing Uranus. The opposition has its first climax on Tuesday. The day of the US election.
The focus and concern over the last week has been on Goma. the capital of DR Congo. The New Moon last Tuesday (October 29th 2008) coincided with the plight of that country coming to the consciousness of the world community. Fears are growing for the fate of more than 250,000 civilians forced to flee their homes by fierce fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. A cease-fire between government troops and rebels is holding but the situation is desperate, with chaotic scenes reported at aid distribution centers. Families stormed one camp in Kibati as others tried to scale the walls. Meanwhile, European diplomats have met Congolese President Joseph Kabila as part of efforts to end the crisis. French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and his British counterpart David Miliband said they had urged the full implementation of existing peace agreements between Congo and neighbouring Rwanda, and the disarming of militias.
As the New Moon broke in the UK, the 'Jonathan Ross (Nov. 17th 1960),- Russell Brand (June 4th 1975)' broadcasting standards drama dominated News Headlines.
There are now 50 days to the Winter Solstice.
The young and very slow moon reaches crescent phase 01:02 GMT 25 degrees Sagittarius,
Neptune is stationary 22 degrees Aquarius turning direct at 03:48 GMT.
Moon apogee 04:52 GMT
The Moon is conjunct Pluto at 09:41 and becomes void.
She enters Capricorn 11:13 GMT.
Saturn is exactly opposing Uranus.
Monday November 3rd 2008
The British and French ministers urged a swift end to the crisis in DR Congo, as the UN prepares an aid convoy to rebel-held areas. Aid groups are expected to travel into rebel-held territory in the Democratic Republic of Congo right now to tend to tens of thousands of people displaced in the latest bout of rebel fighting in the east of the country.
State of the skies:- The Sun today is at 11 degrees Scorpio. We are forty nine days from the Winter Solstice.
The crescent Moon very slowly crawls and waxes in Capricorn. The Moon will also be in this sign tomorrow, the day of the US election. At 22:22 GMT as the Moon is conjunct Jupiter the pair together with Uranus, Mars and Saturn form 4 points of a hexagon.
Mercury is now a morning star in the last degree of Libra. Mercury enters Scorpio tomorrow November 4th 2008. Mercury is at Superior Conjunction with the Sun at 4 degrees Sagittarius on November 25th. Mercury next turns retrograde on January 11th 2009.
Venus is an evening star in Sagittarius and today forms a mutable T- square with Saturn and Uranus, squaring Saturn at 08:42 GMT and squaring Uranus 11:19 GMT. This is a real critical time. She sextiles Neptune on November 5th. Venus is conjunct Pluto on November 12th and enters Capricorn the same day.
Mars is in Scorpio. Mars squares Neptune tomorrow, the US election day and enters Sagittarius on November 16th.
This is a difficult planetary vibration. Mars is squaring Neptune and Saturn is exactly opposing Uranus.
Tuesday November 4th 2008
Yesterday French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner called for the mandate of UN forces in DR Congo to be strengthened.
Today voters give their verdict and elect the 44th US President. A USA Today/Gallup poll published on Monday found likely voters favouring Sen Obama by 11 points over Sen McCain, 53-42%
The astrological vibration of this day is strictly conservative and reactive. The crescent Moon continues her very slow crawl in Capricorn. With the Moon void of course in Capricorn, this is a real hard, (almost pointless) day. Mars squaring Neptune adds weirdness even before the opening of the voting, and Uranus opposite Saturn adds crisis. We have one tough cookie of a US election day. Saturn is exactly opposing Uranus.
Barack Obama has this void Moon conjunct his natal Saturn as voting in eastern states is well underway (mid afternoon GMT). However the Moon changes sign as the western states complete polling. The Moon will enter Aquarius tomorrow, moments after midnight (GMT). This Moon is conjunct Obama's natal Jupiter after entering Aquarius in the early hours tomorrow. Mercury is square his natal Jupiter.
John McCain's day starts with the Sun square his natal Mars, and Venus square natal Saturn. His lunar return occurs today. The Moon trines his natal Mercury in the small hours tomorrow.
Astrologers are bewailing the lack of accurate birth times for both candidates and their standing mates and stating that this one is too close to call. What is certain today is abject and stark polarization. On the surface McCain looks the favorite, simply because the Moon today is in Capricorn, his Moon sign, but I'll not wager a single dollar on the outcome.
Environmental issues will be huge in this election, and major reforms could be instituted. Mountain Astrologer.
Yes indeed the USA Election does coincide with Saturn opposite Uranus. This looks to be a really serious issue.
Unabated pressure.
The day starts with the Moon sextiling Uranus, Mercury sextile Pluto and the Moon sextile Mars at 06:47 GMT and the becoming void of course for the rest of the day..
Mars squares Neptune 07:45 GMT.
Saturn opposes Uranus 1st hit today 13:34 Nov. 4th 2008, 2nd Feb 5th 2009, 3rd Sep 15th 2008, 4th April 26th 2010, final Jul 26th 2010. Saturn and Uranus are at the climax of their cycle which began with their conjunction in 1988. The last opposition occurred in 1965 to the start of 1967 also across Pisces Virgo. That cycle started in 1942. The opposition before that occurred 1918 to 1920 across Leo Aquarius. The last time Saturn in Virgo opposed Uranus in Pisces was in the years 1419 and 1420.
Mercury enters Scorpio 16:00 GMT. This is the change. Mercury joins the Sun and Mars in this sign as the election is well underway.
Wednesday November 5th 2008
Yesterday Voters across the US flocked to polling stations to take part in this ground-breaking presidential election under the beams of a void of course waxing crescent Moon in Capricorn. At 16:00 GMT Mercury, who has been in Libra since August 29th this year, entered Scorpio. Meanwhile peacekeepers were caught up in renewed clashes in DR Congo after days of relative calm.
Mercury is now a morning star in Scorpio for a brief three weeks. During that time Mercury trines Uranus and sextiles Jupiter on November 16th. He sextiles Saturn and squares Neptune on November 17th. Mercury enters Sagittarius on November 23rd 2008. This is a busy, positive, and investigatory period.
Mercury is at Superior Conjunction with the Sun at 4 degrees Sagittarius on November 25th. Mercury next turns retrograde on January 11th 2009
Today the Moon at last enters Aquarius 00:02 GMT, setting the 'high tech scene' for the US election result.
This Moon in Aquarius squares Mercury 01:17 GMT and makes no other aspect today, simply applying in conjunction to Neptune, which peaks tomorrow.
00:00 GMT (1900 EST): Polls close in Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont but the ones to watch are Indiana and Virginia. Both have gone Republican since 1964, so if either of them go for Barack Obama, it could spell a miserable night for John McCain. But if Senator McCain secures both, he is still in with a chance. The Moon enters Aquarius 2 minutes later.
0030 GMT (1930 EST): Get set for drama here. Polls close in the key battleground state of Ohio - it is finely balanced and we might have a long wait before we know which way it has gone. In 2004, the result was not called for several hours.
North Carolina has been fiercely targeted by the Obama campaign, which has flooded the state with money and volunteers.
Democratic success here could suggest Senator Obama is on a roll but a McCain triumph will signal late movement towards the Republican.
West Virginia should be called on the hour - a Republican win.
0100 GMT (2000 EST): The night really speeds up now. Polls close in 15 states and the District of Columbia. Which way most of them will go seems pretty clear and the results should come quickly. But watch out for these:
Missouri - the classic bellwether state. It has backed the winner in every presidential race since 1904, except President Eisenhower in 1956, and the polls suggest a very tight contest.
Florida -its 27 electoral college votes have been bitterly fought over - it's that important and a state Mr McCain simply must win.
Pennsylvania -it has voted Democratic in the last five elections but has become another of the key battlegrounds. Mr McCain really has to capture this Democratic "blue" state - the view is if he cannot win here, he almost certainly will not win the election.
New Hampshire - Mr McCain is hoping to win here and he is in with a chance. The state only has four electoral college votes but if the race is tight, they could be crucial.
Also closing here are Mr Obama's home state of Illinois and Delaware - home state of his running mate Joe Biden.
01:17 GMT Moon in Aquarius squares Mercury
0130 GMT (2030 EST): Polls close in Arkansas and it is safely Republican. So if you need a quick breather, then now is your chance as in 30 minutes things could get really interesting.
01:49 GMT The Moon tightly aligns to Barack Obama's natal Jupiter.
0200 GMT (2100 EST): Another big bunch of states closes now and it is the earliest either candidate can realistically reach the magic 270.
0300 GMT (2200 EST): Last of the real battleground states close now. Mr Obama is expected to win in Iowa so if he doesn't that will be a real upset.
Watch out for Nevada - the state has an uncanny knack of backing the eventual winner. The Obama campaign has put a lot of money and workers here, so we will see if that paid off.
Montana until recently was not seen as a possible Democratic win but now it is.
03:38 GMT The Moon opposes Barack's natal Mercury.
0400 GMT (2300 EST): States closing here should be safe for their respective parties - Idaho (four votes) for Mr McCain, while California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington are set to give Mr Obama 77 electoral votes.
So if the Democratic candidate has already won states like Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, or Florida, then he has it in the bag.
04:34 GMT The Moon trines John McCain's natal Mercury.
05:15 GMT. Mercury squares Barack's natal Jupiter.
0600 GMT (0100 EST): All polls have closed in Alaska and it would be a huge surprise if it did not stay Republican, given that the state's governor, Sarah Palin, is on the ticket.
6 November 2012: Election night rolls again this time with Mercury stationary and turning retrograde during the voting!
Whatever the election outcome, and at the time of writing it appears that history is in the making, the mood today is largely irreverent. It will be easy to detach oneself from the drama.
There is however magic in the air as Venus sextiles Neptune 12:56 GMT, this one favours the ladies.
Thursday November 6th 2008

The 'essentially emotional' vibration continues.
A rich and soulful experience is available today. Follow the crowd, go with the flow.

She enters Aries 17:27 GMT and reaches gibbous phase 22:31 GMT 3 degrees Aries.
The procession to another Full Moon is now underway.
Monday November 10th 2008
In hindsight the single astrological factor which determined the phenomena of the election of Barack Obama in the USA last week was the 'Obama Eclipse' on August 1st 2008 two days before his 47th birthday. On the day of the election November 4th 2008 the Moon was void of course in Capricorn. The mood of the day was reactionary, but the reaction was against the past. The day was hard work, people queued for hours to vote, but the job 'got done' history was made. The future has a more hopeful complexion now. Right now the present is difficult. We are in the grip of Saturn opposing Uranus.
The news over the recent weekend was grim indeed. At least 20 people were suffocated by gas when a fire fighting system malfunctioned on a Russian nuclear submarine.
The number of people who died in the collapse of a school in Haiti has risen to 82, with at least another 107 injured, officials say. Rescuers worked through the night under floodlights to find survivors in the remains of the three-story La Promesse College in a suburb of Port-au-Prince. (See yesterday's Daze for the time of the event).
The principal trouble spot in the world right now appears to be DR Congo. The UN is alleging very recent war crimes there.
An engine firing has taken India's Chandrayaan 1 spacecraft into orbit around the Moon.

Solar minimum is behind us," declared NASA sunspot forecaster David Hathaway. He bases the assertion on a flurry of new-cycle sunspots in October 2008. For the first time, active regions from new Solar Cycle 24 are outnumbering active regions from old Solar Cycle 23. Solar activity is still low, but the sun is showing signs of life. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/07nov_signsoflife.htm

The day continues in a similar manner to yesterday. The atmosphere is urgent, impulsive, electric even. The looming Full Moon is 'kicking in'. There is an intensity to proceedings.

From 23:00 GMT and over the next few hours (right up to the Full Moon moment tomorrow) the Moon forms five points of a hexagon with Jupiter, Saturn Uranus and the Sun. The missing point is 17 to 21 degrees Cancer.
The Moon is certainly very full. This is a powerful night.

Jupiter in Capricorn sextiles Uranus in Pisces today 05:39 GMT. This aspect is the forerunner of the three conjunctions of these two planets which occur in 2010 and very early 2011 around the Pisces Aries cusp. It's always good when these two get together. Today's sextile is a fine backdrop to this morning's Full Moon climax.

The day is good for sorting, classifying, researching, delving and perfecting.
Hold steady, a change is coming.

Jupiter has been in waxing earthy trine aspect to Saturn for most of 2007 and 2008. The 1st hit was March 16th 2007, 2nd May 6th 2007, 3rd January 21st 2008, 4th September 8th 2008, and the final blast today Nov. 21st 2008 is exact at 12:12 GMT.
This aspect has had a positive astrological note of reason and purpose amid the deepening chorus of Saturn opposite firstly Neptune in Aquarius and now opposite Uranus in Pisces.
Today the Moon is conjunct Saturn at 20 degrees Virgo at 14:16 GMT. The day at this moment, is serious, to the point, in exactitude.
Eight and a half hours later the Sun enters Sagittarius 22:45 GMT and a new astrological month begins. The Sun joins Mars and Pluto in that sign and initiates a 'party' of intoxicating Sagittarius energy which only increases in strength as Mercury ingresses Sagittarius in two days time.
A flash fire of astral stimulation hits the biosphere.
Hold on to your hats!

These are incredibly busy times for Mercury. He is at Superior conjunction with the Sun at 4 degrees Sagittarius on November 25th. He is then astrologically an 'evening star' (Mercury Hesperus). Mercury is closely conjunct Mars at 9 degrees Sagittarius on November 29th. Mercury forms a mutable T-square with Saturn and Uranus, squaring Uranus on the 5th and Saturn on the 6th December. Mercury sextiles Neptune on the 7th. Mercury enters Capricorn on December 12th, the day of the next Full Moon and is conjunct Pluto that day. Its all over in such a short, dizzy, breathless, 20 days!

Venus is an 'evening star' in and just 6 degrees, and one week in time, from her 'eye-catching' conjunction with Jupiter and the young Moon, in the evening twilight skies of earth of December 1st. Before the climax of that astral display, Venus eases the ongoing Saturn Uranus opposition by sextiling Uranus on November 28th and trining Saturn on November 30th.
Mars is now in Sagittarius and will be there until December 27th 2008. Whilst there Mars is overtaken by Mercury on November 29th. Their conjunction at 9 degrees Sagittarius has a close (33 minute) orb. On December 5th the Sun overtakes Mars and their conjunction is at 14 degrees Sagittarius. Mars then forms a mutable T-square with the ongoing Saturn Uranus opposition, squaring Uranus on December 12th and squaring Saturn on December 15th. Mars sextiles Neptune on December 16th Mars enters Capricorn on December 27th 2008 and moves on to a conjunction with Pluto the next day at 1 degree of that sign.

The two are closest together on Monday December 1st, with Venus lying about 2 degrees to the South (left) of Jupiter. On the same night the Crescent Moon will appear just beneath them, forming a "Smiley Face".
Upper diagram shows graphic representation of the event; lower diagram shows a more accurate representation of arrangement. Viewers in WA will see a better view, with the moon closer to the planets, while in South Africa the Moon will move between Venus and Jupiter. http://www.astrovisuals.com.au/Events.html
