An Astrological Commentary

                        By Michael Harwood

The Daze 2012

Uranus squares Pluto at 7° - 8° of cardinal signs. This is the waxing square

of the cycle that started in the mid 1960s, with the conjunction of these two

planets in mid Virgo. This square is a symbol of innovation competing directly

with the entrenched power elite (corporate power may be challenged in a new

and positive way, especially in a U.S. election year). Mountain Astrologer

2012 will see the start of 3 years of global innovation and rebellion with the aforementioned Uranus square Pluto.

(The years around 2026 with Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini may be even more rebellious times than 2012-2015).

2012 lists fourteen predicted occultations, with eight of them involving the planet Jupiter, four involving Mercury, one of Venus, one of Mars.

All of these are included in the Daze commentary.

January 2012 starts with Jupiter opposite Saturn eased by Neptune, a planetary picture that lasts all month.

Forecasts and trends 2012

In case you missed recent commentaries on this site regarding 2012 here is a selection.

Syria's President Assad was born Sept 11 1965, a member of the the Uranus conjunct Pluto

generation, on a full Moon day. His chart is muddy, (no fire, much water and earth)

Saturn transits his natal Venus Dec 2011 to Sept 2012 and opposes the Sun in

the Syrian Independence chart during this period. Pluto likely sextiles the the Syrian

Moon in 2012 too. The progressed Sun entered Cancer in Dec 2012, a new 30 year

chapter has started for the country. The Bacch party, to which Assad belongs,

has a chart where Neptune has been hovering in 2011 conjunct lunar node and

has the double whammy of the lunar node conjunct natal Neptune in August 2012.

So Assad will loose popularity and much more, the party faces dissolution and the country

emerges with a more powerful populace. We shall see.

The astrological chart for Greece (1974) portrays a proud and thoroughly

protective populace. Saturn is currently conjunct natal Uranus, and Uranus hovers in trine to natal Saturn,(now to Aug 2012) the

progressed Moon is waxing to the full in Aquarius (2014). Fierce and resolute independence

is suggested at this time. The question is will Greece remain in 'Eurozone'?

The natal Libra Moon suggests yes, Greece wants to belong, but right now

the balance could be seen to tip towards going it alone outside Euroland.

The UN's nuclear watchdog said Iran is doing research that can only be aimed at

developing the capacity to make nuclear weapons. The Iran (1979 revolution)

chart has transiting Uranus conjunct the natal Moon in the summer of 2012

and Pluto square natal Moon from February 2012 onwards. Crisis approaches.

Aung San Suu Kyi's NLD party agreed to re-enter

Burma's political process and contest parliamentary elections. Pluto is trine her natal Mars

right now giving her energy and enduring ambition. However Uranus squares her Mercury

in the new year which is very unsettling. It looks a difficult and bumpy road to me.

Yesterday Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh signed a Gulf Arab-brokered deal,

which will see him stand down after months of unrest. The 1990 Yemeni chart has

Pluto conjunct natal Uranus during 2012 and 2013.

It all adds up to major change in Yemen.

UK and Iran.

Iran's parliament has voted by a large majority to downgrade diplomatic relations

with the UK. The Iran (1979) chart undergoes Uranus conjunct natal Sun and Neptune conjunct

Venus starting in 2013. In 2012 the most notable transit is Jupiter conjunct Moon in the second

half of the year. Iran's 'arab spring' revolution looks set for 2013 then.

The Iran/UK relationship chart is full of planets in air signs, and its not even hot air, just a

slightly dry desert wind. There is a whopper of a progressed New Moon in Oct 2012 in Gemini,

in the relationship chart which will put the relationship on an entirely new footing.

Putin has undergone transiting Saturn conjunct his natal Sun in 2011, and now he has Saturn

conjunct his natal Mercury which extends well into the summer of 2012. Both transits evoke

unpopularity and misfortune. The Solar eclipse in Nov 2011was opposite his natal Moon which

again inhibits his popularity with the masses.

Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov says he will challenge Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in next

March's presidential election. Born May 3rd 1965, Prokhorov at birth has Mars Uranus and Pluto

in Virgo opposite Saturn. He is one of the richest men in Russia, with a rumor of scandal as natal

Venus in Taurus is opposite Neptune. Jupiter is conjunct his natal Taurus Sun at the end of March 2012,

which certainly will bring him fame, but I suppose not enough to secure power. Putin at that time has

Jupiter opposite natal Venus, but his progressed Moon in Leo is trine his progressed Mercury.

More politically astute astrologers than me, (eg Marjorie Orr) forecast that Putin will cling on. The man

pictured above however is the new kid on the block, and will gain some notoriety in the spring of 2012.

The Russian presidential election is set for Sunday March 4th 2012. On that day a cardinal

planetary T-square is manifest in the sky. The Moon in Cancer, (symbolizing 'the people

seeking security'), Venus in Aries and Saturn in Libra (applying to Putin's ascendant),

are involved. Neptune is opposite Putin's Sun/Uranus midpoint, on that day. A strong

and peculiar glam will be at work. A Putin victory after all this opposition? Interesting.

When will the UK Coalition government break up? The Cameron government chart has Uranus

square Pluto during early 2012, Mars hovers over the coalition MC from end of March through to the beginning of May 2012.

Jupiter is conjunct coalition Sun May 4th 2012 Saturn opposes coalition Moon on May 20th 2012 and

the chart has a progressed New Moon in August. It is just conceivable that the coalition will survive

this formidable array of planetary influences, but unlikely. Maybe there will be a UK general election

before the UK olympics?

The UK chart has very powerful influences in store in 2012 and 2013. Jupiter is conjunct UK Mars March 23rd

2012. Pluto hits the IC of the national chart for the first time in March 2012. Uranus also hits the descendant.

Pluto conjuncts natal Sun in 2013. The whole direction, purpose and relationship structure of the UK is going

to undergo a revolution during the next two years. Hold tight Brits.

North Koreans are in mourning after the death of their leader, Kim Jong-il.

The North Korea chart (Sept. 12th 1948) has had Neptune

opposite natal Saturn in 2011, and this repeats in Jan 2012. This has and will

invoke a harsh confusing array of energies. The Total Lunar Eclipse on Dec 10th

2011 was opposite natal Mercury. The big transit in the future is Pluto conjunct

the N.Korean natal Moon from 2013.

It has been known for some time that there is a worrying connection between

Barack Obama's chart and Korea. The world watches the situation with concern.

Wishing all Daze readers a very Happy New Year.

Yesterday Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in areas targeted

by Islamist militants, who killed dozens on Christmas Day. The Nigerian chart will be hit hard

by the Uranus Pluto square in 2012 and 2013. Pluto squares, and Uranus opposes the natal Sun.

Simultaneously Saturn is conjunct natal Mercury in Jan, March and September 2012 and then

Saturn is conjunct natal Venus in Nov 2012. Expect this country to make headlines in the coming

weeks and months.

Nasa's Grail satellites prepared to go into orbit around the Moon to map its gravity in unprecedented

detail, revealing its internal structure. The chart for NASA (Noon July 29th 1958 Washington DC)

works quite well in practice: Man landed on the Moon in July 1969 as Pluto was in trine aspect to

NASA's natal Moon. Challenger exploded on January 28, 1986 (11:38 am; Cape Canaveral )

as Uranus was conjunct NASA's Saturn  Similarly, Columbia exploded on February 1, 2003

(8:00 am over Dallas, TX) as Pluto was conjunct NASA's Saturn. In 2012 Pluto opposes NASA's

Venus, suggesting financial implications, and Neptune opposes NASA's Mercury suggesting some

difficult decision making. There is success in Feb 2012 when Jupiter is conjunct NASA's Mars, but the real

big one in the future is in 2019-2020 when Jupiter Saturn and Pluto all in Capricorn are conjunct the NASA

natal Moon. Some really important project will be underway by then.

There are 79 days to the Vernal Equinox.

We are out of eclipse season which has featured the Partial Solar Eclipse in

Sagittarius on Nov 25th and the Total Lunar Eclipse in Gemini on Dec 10th.

Mercury is a direct morning 'star' in in Sagittarius, and after recent retrograde motion

is back up to speed and in new territory. He sextiles both Saturn and Neptune on Jan 7th.

Mercury enters Capricorn on Jan 8th 2012.

Venus is an evening star in Aquarius. She is trine to Saturn and conjunct Neptune in

climatic fulfillment on Jan 13th. She floats into Pisces on Jan 14th.

Shining brilliantly in the evening sky in early May 2012, Venus turns retrograde on May 15th 2012

at 24 Gemini, and is at Inferior Conjunction, passing over the disc of the Sun, on June 6th 2012.

Mars is now in Virgo and remains there right up to July 3rd 2012.

Mars turns retrograde Jan 24th 2012, in Virgo, and is in opposition to the Sun on

March 14th 2012 also in Virgo.

Jupiter in Taurus will make his final trine aspect to Pluto in Capricorn in mid March 2012.

We then have to navigate a total of 7 instances of Uranus square Pluto, the first being on

June 24th 2012 (as Jupiter squares Neptune) and the last in March 2015.

Tens of thousands of South Sudanese have fled their homes as some 6,000 fighters hunt down

obviously setting off the natal resonance.

There is a potent Full Moon just around the corner. Its climax is next Monday morning (GMT).

The Strait of Hormuz is 'starred'. A medium-range surface-to-air missile was successfully launched

on Sunday as Iran conducted 10 days of exercises near the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20%

of the world's seaborne oil passes. Tehran said on Monday that "mock" exercises on shutting the strait

had been carried out, although there was no intention of closing it.

Today Israel's progressed Mars ingresses Libra, indicating a major long term shift in the country's expression

of energy. Pluto is about to sextile Mars in the Israel/revolutionary Iran relationship chart, and the Full Moon

on Monday is conjunct the Lunar node in this relationship chart. Something is brewing maybe. Yesterday

France urged EU countries to follow the US in freezing Iranian central bank assets and imposing an embargo on oil exports.

Voters in the rural state of Iowa were preparing for the first test of the US election season as they choose a Republican

candidate to take on Barack Obama for the White House in November. The contest launches a series of state-by-state

caucus and primary ballots. Mitt Romney, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum lead a field of six contenders in a race that remains

too close to call.

Mitt Romney born March 12th 1947 9-51 Detroit.

Backed by Wall Street. Well funded, well organised.

Sun, Mercury, Mars in Pisces. Moon in Scorpio. No Earth. Lots of fixed and mutable water.

Jupiter sextile Pluto in August 2012, Jupiter square Mercury November 2012.

He probably will win the Republican nomination contest in August, but unrealistic expectation abounds.

Rick Santorum born May 10th 1958. No birth time.

Backed by the Evangelicals.

Sun Taurus, Moon Aquarius. Mercury in Aries opposite Jupiter, trine Saturn. An excess of fixed fire.(Brimstone)

Jupiter conjunct his Sun in late April. Saturn very active on his chart in August. Uranus conjunct

his Venus all year and into 2013.

The Total Solar Eclipse on Nov 13th 2012, just 7 days after the USA Presidential Elections, falls just 8

degrees from Obama's Mid heaven. A grand trine in Fire signs, on election day, nicely resonates with Obama's

natal Mercury. The Moon is in Leo that day, Obama's Sun sign. My bet is on a second term.

This is the first full Moon following the Total Lunar Eclipse on Dec 10th 2011, and

This Full Moon is a potent lunation. Its influence is to touch on national and tribal

identity. Issues of territory and possession may arise. The Full Moon makes a hard

135 degree aspect with the Saturn/Pluto midpoint which has a tragic hue.

This Full Moon directly hits Saturn in the Syrian chart, the ascendant in the Iran (republic ) chart

the lunar node in Queen Elizabeth 2nd's chart, the Moon in the UK chart, Saturn in Russell Brand's

The US has condemned the killing of an Iranian nuclear scientist in a car bomb

attack in north Tehran. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said

the US "had absolutely nothing to do" with the attack. Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan,

who worked at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, died along with the

driver of the car. Several Iranian nuclear scientists have been assassinated

in recent years, with Iran blaming Israel and the US. Both deny any involvement.

The Venus Neptune conjunction right now hits the lunar nodal axis in the Iran/US

relationship chart. It also opposes Uranus in the said chart. Intrigue, deception

and murder focused on Uranium enrichment are quite fitting outcomes.

High intensity planetary patterns, low news day. Often the case. It's as if

we don't know how to respond to the modulations, yet. We have to find our

feet.

Notice the six bodies in Earth signs. A very methodical day is in store.

The Sun trines Mars, Venus trines Saturn, Mercury conjuncts Pluto, Venus conjuncts Neptune.

Quite an agenda.

Today the Capricorn Sun 'earth trines' Mars 04 47

Venus waxing air trine Saturn 09 06

This is all high tension astrological stuff. Something has to give, something has to work

out. Watch the markets, watch the news.

Yesterday the US announced that it will exchange ambassadors with Burma,

after a landmark Burmese political prisoner amnesty. The progressed Sun

in the Burmese chart is exactly sextile the progressed lunar node today. The

chart has a progressed New Moon in Pisces in 2014.

France confirmed it has lost a top AAA credit rating after stock markets fell

on reports many eurozone governments are being downgraded. Transiting Jupiter is

Venus sextiles Jupiter on Jan 15th, and sextiles Pluto on Jan 20th. She squares the lunar node axis

on Jan 23rd and opposes a retrograde Mars in Virgo on Feb 2nd. She enters Aries Feb 8th. Her

residence in the sign of the fish starts well, but the subliminal universality of Pisces, which Venus

enjoys bathing in, is crossed and marred, by a weak pernickety, uptight and reluctant Mars in the

opposite sign Virgo. Look for disharmony between male and female energy.

State of the skies:- Today the Sun is at 25 degrees Capricorn. The Sun enters Aquarius on Friday.

There are 65 days to the Vernal Equinox.

Mercury is a direct morning 'star' in Capricorn. Mercury trines Mars

on Jan 23rd and squares Saturn on Jan 27th. He speeds into Aquarius on Jan 27th.

Mercury is in Superior Conjunction with the Sun on Feb 7th, the day of the next Full Moon.

Venus is an evening star in Pisces. Venus sextiles Pluto on Jan 20th and squares the lunar node axis

on Jan 23rd. She opposes a retrograde Mars in Virgo on Feb 2nd. She enters Aries Feb 8th.

That overturned boat was still dominating world headlines yesterday. The event was more

symbolic than it was grievous, and it has captured the public's consciousness. I have already

mentioned that the Italian 1946 chart was under pressure, both fromtransiting Uranus, which is

currently square the Italian natal Mercury, and the Venus Neptune conjunction on the day,

highly suggestiveof ' luxury' and 'sea liner', being on the IC of the Italian chart. There had been

very dynamic astrological aspects building up all last week.

The astrological chart set for 20 30 GMT at Giglio Porto on Friday 13th 2012, the time the

ship hit the rock, is striking. Saturn was exactly square the Ascendant/Midheaven midpoint,

and the South Lunar Node was almost exactly conjunct the Midheaven.

The ascendant was on the midpoint between Uranus and the Venus Neptune conjunction.

Chiron was almost due west. The other conjunction that day, Mercury and Pluto in Capricorn,

was exactly 45 degrees from the Sun/Mars midpoint globally, and locally was conjunct the

Ascendant/Jupiter midpoint, which with Sun/Jupiter conjunct MC maybe conferred a degree

of luck on the event, in that not too many people lost their lives. During the following 40 minutes

before the boat overturned the Moon and Mars applying in conjunction in Virgo rose over Italy.

We are now coming to the last few days of the astrological month of Capricorn. The Sun

Yesterday the US House of Representatives and Senate postponed two anti-online piracy bills,

Pipa and Sopa, days after widespread web protests. Researching a possible Internet birth chart

I found this on Astrology weekly.

On July 3, 1969, it was announced that the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) will become the

first station in a nationwide computer network which, for the first time, will link together computers of

different makes and using different machine languages into one time-sharing system.

Professor Leonard Kleinrock was heading this project therefore he is considered the father of the Internet

The first Node connected to the network was UCLA's on September 2, 1969. This is when the first two

computers were connected over what was to become the Internet.

From a personal communication with Professor Leonard Kleinrock, I learned that it was mid-morning

Pacific Time; he estimated it to about 10:00 am. This is the moment that marks the physical birth of the Internet.

We now have 'an Internet chart'. It is a fairly earthy chart with Sun Virgo in the 11th house of the global society,

trine a here to stay Saturn in Taurus.

The Moon also in Taurus opposite a difficult to pin down and regulate Neptune in Scorpio. Mercury conjunct

Jupiter in Libra, in a very file sharing sort of situation, and Libra rising. Mars is in freedom fighting Sagittarius.

This chart was 9 days before a Solar Eclipse, in Virgo. Currently transiting Saturn is on natal Uranus/Neptune,

trying to regulate the universal availability, but transiting Neptune is on Mars/Saturn undermining the attempt.

With transiting Jupiter conjunct Internet Saturn and Moon this spring, and Saturn hovering over the Internet's

ascendant we can expect the fight to go on.

Right now the Aquarius Sun is caught in a planetary T-square with Jupiter and Saturn,

but he sextiles Uranus. Part and parcel of the same conflict I guess. Technology eases

the discomfort a little, and wins out.

We are now in the astrological month of Aquarius. In the north is the dawning realization that the stirring

of a new spring is but a few weeks away. In the south the full glory of the crown of summer is embraced.

Yesterday a series of bombings by Nigerian Islamist militants Boko Haram killed about 150 people

in the city of Kano, the group's deadliest attack to date. The Nigerian chart has dire transits this year.

Transiting Saturn conjunct natal Mercury, January, March and September. Transiting Pluto square

natal Sun starting right now. Uranus square natal Mars, starting in March. Uranus opposing natal

Sun starting in May. The young progressed Moon in the chart entered Capricorn six days ago, when it seems

the proverbial hit the fan. This Moon moves on to conjunct progressed Jupiter, Venus and Saturn over the next

12 months, stirring up all sorts of heavy duty trouble.

The final results in Egypt's first post-Mubarak parliamentary elections confirmed an overwhelming victory for Islamist parties.

A paper published in yesterday's issue of Science raises an intriguing new possibility--the presence of abundant comet

corpses in the solar wind. The new research is based on dramatic images of a comet disintegrating in the sun's atmosphere last July.

This is the 2nd New Moon following the partial solar eclipse on November 25th 2011

and the 4th New Moon before the annular solar eclipse in Gemini on May 20th 2012.

At this time, Mercury trines Jupiter, Neptune sextiles Jupiter, and trines Saturn. The New Moon

itself falls on the Neptune/Pluto midpoint. There is a predominance of planets in Earth and Air

signs. The New Moon is square Jupiter and sextile Uranus. All of this means we have on our hands

an essentially favorable if not a little over-indulgent lunation which is good for objective, and

empirical assessment and future oriented thinking and activity. It favors 'people power', revolution,

and democracy, and it holds a deeply mystical secret as symbolised by the Neptune/Pluto midpoint.

At the moment of New Moon, 07-41 GMT today, the Moon rises over the UK, and Mercury rises

at London. We are at a significant moment in our history in the UK this year, with Pluto reaching the IC,

Uranus conjunct the descendant, and Neptune conjunct the Pluto, all in the UK 1801 astrological chart.

Today's New Moon rise over the UK may herald the start of important matters here. The Sun rises over

France and Spain, Neptune rises over Italy, Jupiter and Saturn straddle the horizon at the gulf of Hormuz,

where Mercury culminates, a potential flash point which has been starred for the second time in two weeks.

The sun and Moon culminate at Karachi and set over Japan and New Zealand.

Today's New Moon hits Jupiter in Barack Obama's chart and the natal Venus of Nick Clegg, and it hits

the natal Moon in the chart of China.

and is at opposition to the Sun on March 3rd at 14 Virgo. He turns direct on April 14th at 4 Virgo.

He enters new territory on June 20th. Mars is, astrologically speaking, at his least powerful when he is closest

to us, and he is not totally at home in Virgo. So we are today entering a period when the 'collective animus'

is weakened. It is easy to imagine compensatory tantrums, masquerades, and ruses being much in evidence in

the forthcoming weeks. It is however a period for detailed well prepared and thought out activities.

Our planet is being bombarded by high-energy particles unleashed by the strongest solar storm since 2005, scientists say.

The charged particles are mostly a concern for satellites - which they can disrupt - and astronauts.

But they can also cause communication problems for aircraft traveling near the poles.

The geomagnetic storm has been caused by a potent flare that erupted from the Sun at 0400 GMT on Monday.

The International Monetary Fund says the world's economy is "deeply into the danger zone", with the

eurozone crisis requiring urgent action.

A very slippery day.

Today is dominated by a conjunction of the Moon and Venus at 14 Pisces.

Potentially this is the sweetest of combinations, perfect for fairytales. However the day's news will

other side of this slippery symbolism.

Russia has said it will block a draft UN Security Council resolution calling for a transfer of power in Syria because

it "leaves open the possibility of intervention" in Syria's affairs. The US, the UK and France are lobbying on behalf

of the Arab League's draft text, which calls for President Bashar al-Assad to hand power to a deputy. The White

House said Mr Assad had lost control of Syria, adding "he will go". But Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister said the

text was "not balanced". Meanwhile, fighting in Syria continued as government troops bombarded the central city

of Homs. Transiting Pluto is quincunx (150 degrees) Bashar's natal lunar node next week ,and transiting Neptune

on March 2nd. Mercury slows to less than a degree per day on March 5th, turns retrograde at

7 Aries on March 12th, and is inferior conjunction with the Sun on March 21st. He re-enters

Pisces on March 23rd and turns direct again on April 4th at 24 Pisces. He finally leaves the

sign of Pisces on April 16th.

Venus is an evening star in Aries . Venus opposes Saturn on March 3rd. Venus moves into

Taurus on March 5th. Shining brilliantly in the evening sky now, and increasing to maximum

brightness in early May 2012, Venus turns retrograde on May 15th 2012 at 24 Gemini, and

is at Inferior Conjunction, passing over the disc of the Sun, on June 6th 2012.

Mars is now retrograding Virgo and remains there right up to July 3rd 2012. He reaches opposition to the Sun

on March 3rd 2012 at 14 Virgo. He turns direct on April 14th at 4 Virgo. He enters new territory on June 20th.

In the western sky, bright Jupiter and brighter Venus are 21° apart and closing.

Watch the gap between them narrow by 1° per day as they approach their March 13th conjunction.

http://www.soullevelsolutions.com/new-moon-intentions/

This New Moon falls midway in time between the partial solar eclipse on November 25th 2011

and the annular solar eclipse in Gemini on May 20th 2012.

This New Moon is significant because it is conjunct Neptune, newly arrived in Pisces, and Chiron.

The New Moon is also sextile Jupiter. This renders a deeply spiritual and inspirational quality to the

time. However there are other, more material influences at work. Mercury applies in opposition

to retrograde Mars. Mars is himself in dangerous aspect (150 degree) to Venus and (165 degree)

to Uranus. This arrangement suggests violent disharmonious and unexpected events, both globally

and personally. An emphasis on water signs and a lack of fixed signs in the planetary situation ensures

a time of emotional fluidity and change. Poised midway between eclipses we are at a karmic point of

balance.

At the moment of New Moon today, the fishy Sun Moon Neptune combination rises over Borneo,

eastern China and Indonesia. The Moon rises at Beijing and at Hong Kong. The three bodies are

at lower culmination at Greece, scene of turmoil right now, and are setting at Venezuela and at

Haiti, Argentina and Bolivia. The Moon sets over the Falklands. Neptune sets at Washington DC.

At London Saturn rises and the New Moon is conjunct the UK Pluto. Something very big is set for the UK I feel.

Today is the birthday of Robert Mugawe, Nina Simone, Charlotte Church. Rhianna, and Gordon Brown

celebrated theirs yesterday. All these people are entering new chapters in their lives.

The New Moon also hits the natal Venus of Shirley Bassey and the Mars of Tracy Bingham and Bjon Borg,

and the natal Saturn of the UK Labour Party, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. The New Moon also

hits the natal Moon of the chart for the transfer of power recently in North Korea.

This is a New Moon to be mindful of.

The day ends with a deep sleep of dreams.

Yesterday's New Moon brought tragedy in the form of a commuter train crash at a station in the

Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, killing 49 people and leaving at least 600 injured. At the moment

What might have been the biggest physics story of the past century may

instead be down to a faulty connection. In September 2011, the Opera

experiment reported it had seen particles called neutrinos evidently

traveling faster than the speed of light. The team has now found two

problems that may have affected their test in opposing ways: one in

its timing gear and one in an optical fibre connection. Yesterday's Venus

quincunx Mars, semi-sextile Mercury seems to have coincided with

the fault finding.

It was a low news day yesterday. We are in a rather quiet period

now astrologically speaking. Moreover, Mars is approaching his 'challenging' opposition

to the Sun, Venus is applying in 'severe' opposition to Saturn, and Mercury is

applying in 'sudden surprise' conjunction to Uranus. These three aspects occur on March 3rd,

The slowly waxing crescent Moon pairs spectacularly with Venus in the evening sky!

Venus and Jupiter are converging, and the Moon swings around the sky to meet them

today. They will form a triangle in the sky less than 15 degrees wide. Venus and Jupiter

will converge even more until, on March 12th, the two bright planets will form a

double-beacon in the sunset sky only 3degrees apart. Astrologicaly, the conjunction of

Venus and Jupiter in Taurus, represents, sheer opulance, so much for March 2012.

Today's conjunction of Venus and the Moon and Venus in Aries evokes very much

a 'me-centred' impatience. Events of a sudden and volatile nature, will I guess,

A US experiment has confirmed previous findings that hinted at new phenomena outside our

understanding of physics. The results show that certain matter particles decay differently

working on the CDF experiment have been presented at a particle physics meeting in La Thuile, Italy.

Venus enters Taurus 10 26

Venus will be in Taurus for 25 days. She sextiles Neptune tomorrow,

trines Pluto, conjunct Jupiter at 10 Taurus, and is trine Mars on

March 14th, and she sextiles retrograde Mercury on March 29th.

Venus moves into Gemini on April 3rd.

State of the skies:- Today the Sun reaches 15 degrees Pisces. There are 15 days to the Vernal Equinox.

Mercury, and Uranus are in Aries. Mercury is an evening star in Aires, approaching his station.

Mercury today slows to less than a degree per day , turns retrograde at 7 Aries on March 12th, and

is at Inferior Conjunction with the Sun on March 21st. He re-enters Pisces on March 23rd and turns direct

again on April 4th at 24 Pisces. He finally leaves the sign of Pisces on April 16th.

Venus is an evening star in Taurus.

He reached opposition to the Sun

on March 3rd 2012 at 14 Virgo. He turns direct on April 14th at 4 Virgo. He enters new territory on June 20th.

In the western sky, bright Jupiter and brighter Venus are 8° apart and closing.

The next Full Moon peaks on the morning of Thursday March 8th.

A strong solar storm is expected to hit Earth shortly, and experts warn it could disrupt

power grids, satellite navigations systems and plane routes.

The storm - the largest in five years - will unleash a torrent of charged particles

between 06:00 GMT and 10:00 GMT, US weather specialists say.

They say it was triggered by a pair of massive solar flares earlier this week.

It means there is a good chance of seeing the northern lights at higher latitudes,

if the skies are clear.

A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetic field on March 8th around 1100 UT.

The impact was weaker than expected, sparking only a mild (Kp=5) geomagnetic storm.

However, the storm could intensify in the hours ahead depending on electromagnetic

conditions in the wake of the CME. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras.

and the penultimate New Moon before the annular solar eclipse in Gemini on May 20th 2012.

The New Moon is conjunct retrograde Mercury and Uranus. It is opposite the Mars/Saturn

midpoint. Retrograde Mars is almost exactly opposite Chiron at this time.

At the New moon moment, the Sun, Moon Uranus and Mercury are setting at Tehran, and are

at lower culmination Tokyo. Jupiter culminates at London.

The New Moon directly hits the natal Mercury of footballer Fabrice Muamba, the natal Mercury

of David Gilmour, the natal Sun and Mars of Moussa Koussa, a member of Gaddafi's inner circle,

the natal Saturn of broadcaster Adrian Chiles, and the natal Sun of the China/North Korea relationship

chart.

After the New Moon moment has passed the infant Moon makes a conjunction with Uranus 18:37

Yesterday a police sniper shot and killed the gunman who carried out a spate of murders

in southern France, after a 32-hour siege in Toulouse. Mohammed Merah, Oct 10th 1988,

was born on the day of a New Moon in Libra and died on the day of a New Moon in Aries.

His is an essay in anger. He had an angry retrograde Mars in Aries square an exact conjunction#

of Saturn and Uranus. Police commandos stormed into his flat at 09:30 GMT. He has recently

undergone transiting Uranus conjunct his natal Mars. Jupiter is currently opposite his natal Pluto.

On the day of his death, the Sun was conjunct his natal Mars and retrograde transiting Mars was

conjunct his Venus.

Mercury is in Pisces for only 24 days. For the first 12 of these he is retrograde.

He sextiles Venus on March 29th, and turns direct on April 4th at 24 Pisces. He re-enters Aries on April 16th.

These next 24 days will be very much a time to re-adjust and re-focus.

The remainder of this day continues with 'a rush and a race' to the weekend.

The weekend ahead sees an 'electric Saturday' with the infant moon waxing in Aries,

and the Sun conjunct Uranus. Sunday looks to be a lot steadier, with the Moon joining

Venus and Jupiter in Taurus, making constructive aspects to Mars and Pluto.

Russia has the key to the Syrian problem, China has the key to the

North Korean problem. Last week's New Moon directly hit the natal Sun in

the China/North Korea relationship chart. US President Barack Obama

yesterday warned North Korea its planned long-range missile launch will

achieve nothing and increase its isolation. The launch is scheduled for

12-16 April, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the

country late Great Leader Kim Il-sung.

Mercury enters 'new territory' on April 23rd, squares Pluto on April 25th, sextiles

Venus again on May 4th and opposes Saturn on May 6th. Mercury enters Taurus on May 9th.

Venus is an evening 'star' in Taurus. She sextiles retrograde Mercury on March 29th.

Venus moves into Gemini on April 3rd. Shining brilliantly in the evening sky now, and

increasing to maximum brightness in early May 2012, Venus turns retrograde on

May 15th 2012 at 24 Gemini, and is at Inferior Conjunction, passing over

the disc of the Sun, on June 6th 2012.

Mars is retrograding in Virgo and remains there right up to July 3rd 2012.

He turns direct on April 14th at 4 Virgo and enters new territory on June 20th.

Yesterday China and the US agreed to co-ordinate their response to a controversial

North Korean rocket launch, as Korean tensions rise. The USA China relationship chart

has transiting Pluto conjunct the ascendant this month. Good news maybe.

In the UK a scandal has broken out concerning David Cameron in what has been dubbed

the "cash for access" affair. The Conservatives were initially unwilling on Sunday to say which donors

had been guests in David Cameron's flat for dinner, but by lunchtime on Monday they published details.

Cameron, a Libran Sun sign, is being battered from Uranus in Aries. Uranus is currently quincunx his

natal Mercury, a simple twist of fate, and Uranus moves on to oppose his natal Venus in May,

September 2012 and in March next year. His fate resonates with that of the UK. Big events

are in store as Pluto this spring is conjunct the IC of the UK chart. Around the 24th - 25th April

Jupiter opposes UK Neptune and Neptune is conjunct UK Pluto. In May Uranus is conjunct the

UK descendant( just as Uranus opposes David Cameron's Venus). Historical events are

likely in the UK, starting this year. At the exact moment of the next Full Moon on Good Friday, Saturn

is exactly rising at London.

As an aside, UK fuel tanker drivers have voted in favour of taking strike action in a row over terms

and conditions and safety, the Unite union has said. The government is holding a meeting with fuel

delivery companies and supermarkets to plan tactics for coping with any resulting strike.

Army drivers are being trained to deliver fuel to petrol stations in case of a walkout by tanker drivers.

Today is not an easy day astrologically speaking.

Saturn and Pluto together give rise to struggle and endurance.

Readers are encouraged to read an article by Robert Hand on their cycle.

The current Saturn Pluto cycle started in November 1982 with their conjunction in Libra.

It was mainly a period of brutal but regional wars. The Iran-Iraq War raged throughout this

period, with severe loss of life on both sides. The opposition was manifest in 2001.

The '9-11' event occurred during Saturn opposite Pluto.

Today's aspect, the second of 3 has its final hit, on Aug 19th 2012.

We have elections in Russia, China, France, Germany and the USA

as this 'transforming' waning quintile aspect rings out.

The cycle ends in Jan 2020 with a conjunction in Capricorn.

Venus squares Neptune on April 6th, squares Mars on April 8th, sextiles Uranus

on April 9th, and opposes the lunar node on April 12th. On that day she enters

repeatable territory. Venus will shine at her very

brightest during the early evenings of early May. Venus turn retrograde

on May 15th at 24 Gemini, squares Mars a 2nd time on June 5th, transits the disc

of the Sun on June 6th and sextiles Uranus a 2nd time on June 21st. Venus

turns direct again on June 27th at 7 Gemini. She sextiles Uranus a final time on

July 5th. During mid July Venus will shine really brilliantly in the morning skies.

Venus enters new territory on July 31st, the day she trines Saturn.

She enters Cancer on August 7th.

Venus in Gemini symbolises a time of variety and interplay.

These coming months are vitally important. Venus in Gemini will preside over

the first blast of Uranus square Pluto, and with Mars in Virgo until July 3rd; the square

he makes to Venus make is not conducive to 'harmony in relationships'.

Today's aspect precedes the waxing square aspect with Jupiter in

Gemini on June 25th 2012. The climatic opposition occurs in Sept.

2015 across Pisces Virgo, and the cycle ends in 2022 in Pisces.

The cycle symbolises speculation and fantasy. Today's aspect maybe

provides an artistic outlet for the rather the rather errant energy of these two.

This is the 4th Full Moon following the Total Lunar Eclipse on Dec 10th 2011, and

the penultimate Full Moon before the Partial Lunar Eclipse on June 4th 2012.

This Full Moon is applying in conjunction to Spica and to Saturn. The skies are

currently dominated by a mutable cross involving the lunar nodal axis, Mars, Venus,

Neptune and Chiron. There is only one body, Jupiter, in a fixed sign. Change and

inconstancy are therefore in the air. This lunation, which is a serious but potentially

beautiful affair, evokes and induces change and readjustment.

At the moment of Full Moon Saturn is exactly rising at London and at Madrid. The

Moon is rising over north Scotland and Ireland. The Moon culminates at Kabul and

sets over south New Zealand. Mars culminates at Cairo. Neptune rises over the

Korean peninsular and is at lower culmination at Istanbul.

Today's Full Moon directly hits the natal Moon of Burma, and is close to the natal

Moon of Aung San Suu Kyi. It also hits the natal Mercury of Leonard Cohen, the natal

Venus of Sean Connery, Elvis Costello, and Prince Harry, the natal Mars of Nick Clegg

and the South Korea chart, the natal Jupiter of Italy, Fabio Capello and George W Bush,

the natal Saturn of Vladmir Putin, the natal Neptune of Steve Hillage, and the natal Pluto

of revolutionary Iran. Today is the birthday of Andre Previn (83), Paul Daniels (74),

North Korea's keenly-watched rocket launch has failed, Pyongyang has confirmed.

The rocket - seen by many as a banned test of long-range missile technology -

was launched from north-west North Korea early on Friday. The rocket went up

at 07:39 local time (22:39 GMT Thursday).

Transiting Neptune is exactly opposite the North Korea Sun/Pluto midpoint today.

This influence obviously undermined the country's power ambitions.

At the time of writing a fragile ceasefire appears to be holding in Syria, despite

violations reported by both sides, as the UN considers deploying monitors.

Taurus on Thursday. There are 63 days to the Solstice. There are 34 days to an

Annular Solar Eclipse in Gemini, and 48 days to a Partial Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius.

The Moon is New next Saturday.

Mercury is now a direct morning 'star' entering Aries tonight, he is back up to

speed on April 19th, and he is conjunct Uranus at 6 Aries for a third and final time on April 22nd.

Mercury enters 'new territory' on April 23rd, squares Pluto on April 25th, sextiles Venus again on

May 4th and opposes Saturn on May 6th. Mercury enters Taurus on May 9th.

Venus is an evening star in Gemini. She resides here for the long haul.

She also transits the solar disc during her retrograde phase.

Venus is in repeatable territory. Venus will shine at her very brightest during the early evenings of early May.

Venus turn retrograde on May 15th at 24 Gemini, squares Mars a 2nd time on June 5th, transits

Daze readers will no doubt be curious to learn about Anders Breivik. We have no time of birth

but he was born Feb 13th 1979. He was born during an eclipse season which climaxed with his

progressed New Moon in 1992 being a Total Solar Eclipse in Pisces when he was 13. His progressed

Full Moon in 2007 was a partial lunar eclipse, square his Neptune. He was born with the Sun, Mercury

and Mars in emotionally detached Aquarius and his Moon and Saturn were in regimental Virgo. He has

a strong Mars, trine Pluto and violently square Uranus. His Sun and Mars are in delusional sextile to

Neptune. At the time of his misdeeds last July the lunar node was conjunct this lost sheep Neptune, and

his soul was ill. Currently Pluto is conjunct his natal Venus, blowing up his personal Nazi publicity. What a

mean and merciless man. He has damned himself by misdirecting his God given energy.

Today is an old Moon Friday, don't expect too much, but the weekend ahead is amazing.

The Sun now in Taurus is in waxing biquintile the lunar node 19 31, heralding the dawn of

a new eclipse season.

The ancient, slow, Moon in Aries is opposite Saturn becoming void 19:36

Mercury is in awkward waning quincunx to Mars 22:16.

Well, the weekend ahead is very interesting.

The New Moon is tomorrow. Sunday is astrologically strong. The Moon will be

conjunct Jupiter, the Sun sextiles Neptune, Mercury will be conjunct Uranus and there

are strong 9th and 14th harmonics at work.

The French election is on Sunday. Nicolas Sarkozy has transiting Pluto square his Mars

and Saturn square his Uranus, so is a defeat on the cards? By the end of May, Uranus sextiles

his natal Sun, setting him free again.

A plane carrying up to 127 people has crashed in a residential area near Islamabad

international airport. Aviation officials said the Bhoja Air jet, flight BHO-213, was flying

from Karachi to Islamabad when it crashed in bad weather minutes from landing.

Emergency teams are at the crash site, reported to be at Hussain Abad village.

There are no reports of survivors. The jet left Karachi at around 17:00 local time

(12:00 GMT) and had been due to arrive at 18:50 (13:50 GMT). At the time of

At the time of this pre-eclipse New Moon, Mars remains opposite Neptune and

Chiron and square the lunar nodal axis. Mercury applies to Uranus, and the New

Moon is sextile Neptune and trine Mars. There are five bodies in Earth signs and

only one (Neptune), in a water sign. There is a predominance of trine aspects at

this time.

At the exact moment of New Moon the Sun and Moon align to the MC of Kabul.

Venus rises at Madrid, Neptune rises and Mars sets at Lima, Neptune culminates at

Kinshasa, and sets at Singapore, Uranus rises at Rio de Janeiro. Mercury and Uranus

Madvedev, and probably Brian Cox. It hits the natal Saturn of Ginger Baker, Cate

Blanchett, Ayatollah Khamanei and Ed Milliband.

This is the 5th New Moon following the partial solar eclipse on November 25th 2011

and the ultimate New Moon before the annular solar eclipse in Gemini on May 20th 2012.
